Marcel Breuer B35 Rattan Arm Chair 1970s

Thonet-produced basket weave rattan B35 chair by MARCEL BREUER.

Designed in 1928-29, the style is classic Bauhaus (typically stripped-down to the core elements) and followed on from Breuer's successful Wassily chair. Breuer continued to experiment with tubular steel furniture. He later partnered with the German manufacturer Thonet, designing a number of chairs, stools, and ottomans made from this lightweight, traditionally industrial material.
