Maison Margiela x Reebok reveal new deconstructed classics
Classic Leather Memory Of and Club C Memory Of are announced with a March 25th release date
The success of Reebok and Maison Margiela's previous releases has spurred the duo on to release two new reworks of Reebok's Classic Leather and Club C models. Named Memory Of after Margiela's typical deconstructive design process where a favourite garment or object is subverted in such a way that it only leaves a trace or "memory" of what it once was.
Although the two resulting shoes released here don't veer very far off the original design path, they do - as always with Margiela - have some subtle and quirky details.
There's no branding on the upper of either of the shoes; instead they receive a textured suede panel. The tongue features the Reebok label stitched on top of the Margiela number branding, which is a nice touch.
Both shoes feature ragged and exposed zigzag stitching on the upper, while an overlapped mudguard adds to the disarray and deconstructed feel that is synonymous with Margiela's work.
These are much more sedate than the previous Classic Cutout release which rocked a tabi toe box and an expensive-looking hand-painted finish, but that's not a problem; they're neat and wearable, and will surely get you some comments from people with an eye for detail.
Available 25th March 2022 from Reebok and Maison Margiela online stores.
